What if all the ads in Times Square became art?

Times Square Art Square, an arts and culture non-profit based in NYC, is working to create an annual, renewable month-long art exhibition that will re-imagine the 'Crossroads of the World' as the public crossroads of the art world.
Involving billboards, interactive art, ground level installations, new media, music, film, architecture, performance art and more, their mission is to transform Times Square by changing the way the public views/interacts with it and use it as a vehicle to promote artistic development and make art more accessible.

So, Just a quick message,
To let you know how much I'm looking forward to joining in the Amsterdam parallel fundraising event for 'Times Square Art Square- pledge a sketch' this coming weekend,
It's going to be so much fun!

To check out what its all about and to see how it works, go to the link:

and / or the facebook page:
and the invitation for the Amsterdam event, unfortunately only in Dutch:

Please tell as many people as you can about it to make this thing real!

While waiting and planning the big backdrop move tomorrow - fingers crossed - I just had to keep myself busy

Finished in one day! Might have to take a better picture in daylight and now my back aches a little, but I'm quite happy with the result. This is drawn with markers on the new paper I got at the weekend from the Photo fair for free!

MY BACKDROP PAINTING NEEDS A NEW HOME!

This is a call-out to friends and art lovers in or near Amsterdam NL.... with larger storage spaces or studio walls or anything similar!!!

My lovely friends! I need your help!
I have just found out that my last backdrop (see photo) which I

painted at the Vlaams Cultuurhuis Brakke Grond, for 1000 Drawings and 'the Birds that change colour', Must be moved to a new location by the end of THIS WEEK, after a few months of loving storage, or horror of horrors, because of lack of space it will be re-painted !!!

Please let me know if you can think of anywhere I can move it to, at least temporarily until I find a permanent home for it?

I'm sure one of you knows someone who has a studio wall or a dry garage or something I can borrow at least for a while.. you are also allowed to display and enjoy it..

It is painted on wooden boards in 3 parts, 3m high and each 1m wide = in total 3m x 3m when put up together, and therefore a bit heavy and a liitle cumbersome, so no steep, tight Dutch stairwells please! ;-)

Thanks to everyone so far for your help, I am already following up a couple of potentials but only temporary ones

I'll keep you posted how we get on,
Gail

A Day out and cool booty..

I visited Unseen the photography fair in Amsterdam today, and  procured a really interesting first issue in self publication by a charming young chap called Philippe
I immediately loved the concept and I'm already looking forward to see what he comes up with next!

Tip of the day:
When you go to trade fairs and the like, make sure you are there right towards the end.. Chances are, you will come across someone trying to avoid having to take their bulky stuff home with them..
My booty for today: a humugous roll of lovely nice white paper! bonus!!
